Life in the tropics takes place in the outdoors, traditionally on the verandah or baraza in Kiswahili. You will find people resting, chatting and socialising on the baraza's of Swahili houses. The verandah features two large dining tables, couches, a love chair, and an antique Zanzibarian bed for napping and enjoying the ocean breeze. Enjoy the spacious Villa Bahati Baraza. Meals can be taken there or in the garden.
In the garden dhow furniture endures even the hot sun and the occasional shower given that they are made of old disused ngalawa teak wood. Local outtrigger boats are called ngalawa.
